About Loved & Sober

An independent, education-first resource for the families and loved ones of people facing addiction.

Loved & Sober exists for the person searching at 2am — the parent, partner, sibling, or friend of someone struggling with alcohol or drugs, trying to figure out what actually helps. We translate the research into calm, plain language.

What we are

An independent educational publication. Our guides cover what helps and what backfires for families, and plain-language explanations of how treatment works — levels of care, programs, medications, and recovery housing.

What we are not

We are not a treatment provider, a referral service, or a substitute for professional care. We don't diagnose, treat, or advise on individual situations — see our Medical Disclaimer. When it's time to find treatment, we point to one place: the U.S. government's independent locator, FindTreatment.gov.

How our content is made

Every guide is written by the Loved & Sober editorial team and sourced to primary, authoritative references — SAMHSA, NIDA, peer-reviewed research (with PubMed links you can check yourself). Our standards, including how we verify sources and handle corrections, are documented in our Editorial & Sourcing Policy.
